Hi-
I am sitting at home- we are stuck in a snowstorm and they have closed the schools, the mall, and most of the roads. Heather has been going crazy and she just left with some guy who put chains on his Jetta in order to get out of his house to stop himself from going crazy…he picked up heather and they are off to buy a blowdryer at WalMart (which we assume will be open…) So, wait for more news on my roommate who risked her life for a blow dryer…

As for the title, I went to the family ward for the second time this week. I was looking forward to finding out if I hated it as much this week as I did last week (and I did make it all the way to church without swearing at anyone), and once I got there I saw that it was ward conference and it was WAY full (do all those people suddenly show up to show off for the stake president??) and I sat in the back with one spare chair next to me…mid sacrament, a lady with three kids came in…I told her they could have my seat and the empty seat and that I was much more able to “float” than she was…I ended up back outside in the foyer and I ran into the wife of an MBA guy. She asked if I could babysit her four toddlers while she and her husband sang and directed choir (we have 75 kids under the age of 2 and 14 pregnant women. There is no young womens program and the sacrament is passed by grown men- we just have men or babies…hmm…) so I said yes– but as soon as she left our bench things began to fall apart. I essentially teased the toddler with the promise of his sister’s cheerios, and when he tripped while I was teasing him he hit his head really really hard. I scooped him up (after essentially dropping him HARD) and ran out before he could drown out the song his mother had composed and was now leading…I had no idea if I was supposed to take the whole family or just the errant noisy one. I opted for just the baby, and he cried the whole time. Everyone in the foyer recognized him (and that I was not his mom) so I just said “This is how I help people with babies- I make them cry- do you want me to help you next week?” They dismissed church immediately after so we could all get home in the snow, and it took me two hours to get home because of the slow driving on the ice and because I got caught behind several accidents. Its been a wierd week, and last week one of my students tried to set me up on a date with one of his friends…hmm. That’s it from NC. Heather is still not back…
