Jackee and I had a wonderful 4 days at Clearlake lsat week. We excerised in their little micro-gym, which was fun because the view was out over the beautiful lake. Afterwards, you could go swimming in their huge lap-pool, or melt yourself away in their hot tub. Generally, we opted for the hot tub.
We also found the History Channel to be our favorite “show”.
And, we finally played Dixee’s Foot-n-Mouth game, which uses four decks of cards and a complicated set of rules. Dixee’s rule-note ended with “… well, I’m tired of writing.. call me if you want more explanation.” So, when Jackee was losing, she simply explained the rules which Dixee had failed to mention. Hmmm….

This weekend was Mick Johnson’s funeral. He died of a massive heart attack last Tuesday. We drove all day Friday, attended the funearl on Saturday, and drove home Sunday…. but the funeral was a wonderful tribute to both Mick and Valda. His kids pulled together, and demonstrated what a great thing a big family can be. We had a wonderful time visiting with Jim, Val, Jerry, Allan, Dan, Peanut, Barbara .. and their kids.
The burial was a little unusual: three Marines were sent out to perform a flag ceremony for one of the great fighter pilots of WW-2. It turns out that Mick never put in for any “credits”. Every time a mission was flown, the pilots were supposed to fill out two reports: a “what happened” (operational) report, and a “put-in-for-credit” (downed aircraft and downed ships) report. Mick only submitted the first. He always referred to the airplanes he shot down in human terms. He spoke of flying close enough to see their faces and that they were just kids… like himself. He took no joy in the fact that he shot down 11 aircraft… more than most highly decorated “aces” of WW-2.
