i’ve been planning for weeks to post the promised update on Josh and me… after my trip to Oregon and all that followed. unfortunately, I didn’t think I could say enough about how much fun I had (a lot), how trying out for EOU’s soccer team went (I was offered a position), and how amazed I was by Josh (he can be impressive when he wants)… and then after I decided I could say enough (I just did) I didn’t think it right to post news where there should be a birth announcement – who could compete with that? (see album of 43 pictures in JB & Susie’s Photos). Anyway, now I can only offer news on my latest plans as a single girl in search of a fulfilling career or a life, on my neat but considerably different roommates, and on my latest exploits around Provo…

POST-JoshTrauma (on which topic I am fielding questions over the phone and via other media, but do not feel the need to here exploit) I have been rendered single in the middle of what was previously a lot of ignored offers. These now have turned into dates (we’ll call this phenomenon, “provo”). I spend a lot of time with Apartment 80, three boys who always literally have their door open and are always willing to play or chill, depending on the weather. They also all have season passes to Seven Peaks and plan to visit me at work often. Unfortunately, when I find them at home they are usually playing video games and are, for this and other reasons, not datable (see BYU album for pic).

I mentioned I have great roommates, and I do – Stacey is Asian (irrelevant fact) and just got back from a visit to the East Coast – she is waiting for her mission call. She has a couple of boys who, since she put in her papers, have cropped up and expressed quite the interest in preventing her from leaving. Liz has been here the whole time and is making wedding plans. She’s sweet and totally Mormon, from Virginia. Though I’m really different from her, I can’t complain because she’s got that girl instinct, insisting on baking chocolate cake and buying me flowers, since Josh was too dumb to care.

Contrary to popular belief, cake and flowers don’t actually fix anything, so I’ve taken it upon myself to buy some ICE CREAM (which does fix quite a lot) and to start working on things for ‘Oh Susannah! crafts & cards’ again in the attempt to feel successful. I am making pros and cons lists to narrow the possible careers, schools, social opportunities, and other considerations for lasting personal happiness and success. The dates have also gone a long way to remove the sting of disappointment with Josh – feeding the ducks is great medicine, as is 4 wheeling in the mountains, watching the sunset, walking in the sand, going out to dinner, and running through the sprinklers. And that’s only in the last 3 days! (again, the provo phenomenon).

In other non-news which I’ll here add to my rambling, my greatest aspiration for this coming week is to buy a digital camera. I didn’t roadtrip to Vegas this weekend so that I could work. They sent us home from work and cancelled all pertinent activities due to near-blizzard conditions and snow expected by tomorrow (two days ago it was blazing hot and I was more than a little worried about getting sunburned). and Mom wonders that I miss California….

I do. stupid Josh. silly me. Anyone with suggestions on my pros and cons lists feel free – I’ve decided perhaps I should just take a poll and proceed in my life with whatever the popular decision is as to school, career, where to live, even who to marry. It seems almost everyone else in this family has at least a little better judgment these days than I. cast your vote.

I went to bed tonight before 9 pm. It’s now 2:52 am and I’ve been up for a couple of hours – that pros and cons list is keeping me up… or maybe it’s Josh and other things I try not to think about. Or it just runs in this family to only need 3 hours of sleep!
